MESSAGING MATTERS…Blessings in Disguise

Last Friday, we held our November agency kickoff. Given that it fell on the eve of Halloween (and Alabama’s deer season) there was no shortage of costumes, characters and creativity around the room.

As for me, several people asked about my outfit. My response was simple:
“If you’ve ever wondered how I dress on a Saturday during deer season, this is it.”

Truthfully, there wasn’t much costume involved. A ball cap. A pullover. Brush pants. Hunting boots. A few hours later, I’d be headed to deer camp.

But before that, we spent time reflecting on what was an exceptionally positive month for our agency.

We celebrated new business. We recognized team members whose work continues to set the standard for what great client service and great thinking look like. I joked that my role in new-business presentations has been reduced to showing up, looking professional and trying not to mess things up after our team has already done the hard work.

Like most jokes, there’s more truth in it than fiction.

We also welcomed an opportunity to hear from our new president, Michael Sundquist, about where we’re headed and how we’ll continue embracing AI as a tool that strengthens our business and the value we deliver to clients.

As we enter November, a month traditionally associated with gratitude, I’m reminded that our greatest blessing isn’t a process, a platform or a technology.

It’s our people.

Their talent. Their character. Their commitment to one another and to our clients.

The costumes will disappear until next year. The reasons to be thankful won’t.

And for that, I’m grateful every day.
